ConsultationTresorit is an end to end encrypted content platform for secure storage, sharing, eSignature, and governance. It addresses data sovereignty, insider risk, and unmanaged file exchange by placing encryption and policy controls at the client level. Outcomes include reduced exposure, simpler compliance, and faster external collaboration. Core stack includes zero knowledge encryption, granular link controls, data residency selection, SSO, and admin policy enforcement.
Tresorit’s modules share a zero knowledge, end to end encrypted core. Keys are generated and managed on the client so content is unreadable to the service. Policies, identity, and audit apply consistently across modules.
Tresorit scales through client side encryption, stateless APIs, and regional data residency options. Performance is optimised with a virtual file system so large libraries can be browsed without full sync. Enterprise controls extend through SSO, SCIM, and admin policies while Azure based hosting provides regional capacity.
Tresorit’s history can be read in four periods that combine product evolution, security validation, and strategic investment.
2011 to 2014. Founded by István Lám, Szilveszter Szebeni, and György Szilágyi as a Swiss‑Hungarian company focused on end to end encryption and client side key management. Exited stealth in April 2014 with multi‑platform clients. A public hacking challenge from 2013 to 2014 increased to USD 50,000 over 468 days with no successful break reported, reinforcing the cryptographic design.
2015 to 2018. Wuala’s shutdown in August 2015 drove privacy‑focused users to Tresorit. Enterprise features expanded alongside platform reach. On 4 September 2018 Tresorit closed a EUR 11.5 million Series B to scale product and go to market. In December 2018 the team launched Tresorit Send, a free end to end encrypted large‑file transfer for recipients outside the workspace.
2019 to 2021. Recognition included Gartner Peer Insights Customers’ Choice for Content Collaboration and listing in the FT 1000. On 8 July 2021 Swiss Post acquired a majority stake, providing long‑term backing and strengthening European data‑protection positioning while Tresorit continued to operate independently within the group.
2022 to 2025. Tresorit eSign launched on 1 November 2022, enabling signature workflows to run inside the end to end encrypted repository. Documents remain encrypted before, during, and after signing. Support for Qualified Electronic Signatures followed, with a trial add on in 2024. Data residency expanded across twelve Azure regions with group level assignment and migration tools. Leadership transitioned in 2023 with István Hartung appointed CEO.
In June 2025 Tresorit introduced Engage, encrypted data rooms for sustained external collaboration.
PandaDoc supports horizontal teams with vertical specific configurations so templates, approvals, and data mappings reflect industry language and obligations.
Tresorit enables organisations worldwide to store, share, sign, and manage sensitive content in a single encrypted workspace. Client-side encryption minimises exposure, while audit trails, link controls, and policy enforcement strengthen compliance and reduce risk. Integrations with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace keep work in context, and adoption continues to grow across Asia Pacific and Oceania.
Adoption across Australia and New Zealand is steady in healthcare, professional services, and the public sector. Deployments often highlight residency selection, strict link policies with expiry and verification, and alignment with GST and ABN record handling. Many rollouts begin in a single market and then scale regionally, supported by shared folders and role-based access.
Growth in Singapore, Japan, and India is driven by localisation and partner enablement. Teams focus on SSO, SCIM provisioning, and bilingual file naming where required, while ensuring residency aligns with contractual obligations. Integrations with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace keep records consistent across subsidiaries.
Tresorit differentiates by applying end to end encryption and zero knowledge controls across storage, sharing, and signature.
Box offers broad collaboration and optional security add ons. Enterprise deployments can require multiple modules for full protection.
