March 31st, 2026, ’s Claude Code platform became widely accessible through a packaging and distribution configuration within its release process.

Approximately 512,000 lines of TypeScript code were available, providing visibility into the orchestration layer that supports one of the industry’s more advanced coding agents.

Cause

The contributing factors can be understood across three areas within the release workflow.

Debugging artifacts intended for internal use were included in a public package. These artifacts enabled reconstruction of the original source code.

An omission within the package configuration allowed these artifacts to be distributed. Specifically, exclusion rules did not prevent non-production files from being published.

A tooling interaction involving the Bun JavaScript runtime contributed to the generation and inclusion of source maps in the production build.

Anthropic attributed the issue to release process oversight, highlighting the importance of governance and validation controls. Release governance remains central to managing build validation, artifact handling, and storage access.
